Prepper Camp 2026: Fellowship, Resiliency, and Community at the New Venue

Reflecting on an unforgettable weekend of learning, reunion, and perseverance in the foothills of North Carolina.

What an incredible weekend! The Rivers Bend Outdoors team recently packed up our gear and headed out to attend Prepper Camp 2026 from August 14th to 16th. This year was extra special as the event expanded into its brand-new, larger home at the Tryon International Resort in Mill Spring, NC, nestled right along a gorgeous private lake in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

The new venue provided an incredible setting for our booth in the Event Shopping Mall, giving us plenty of room to showcase our gear, connect with attendees, and take in everything this amazing gathering has to offer.

Reuniting with Old Friends and Welcoming New Ones

One of the greatest joys of attending events like Prepper Camp is the deep sense of camaraderie. From the moment we set up our booth on Thursday, it felt like a family reunion. We were thrilled to reconnect with so many familiar faces—fellow outdoorsmen, preppers, homesteaders, and vendors—whom we first met last year.

Catching up on everyone’s stories, homestead progress, and life updates over the past year reminded us why we love what we do. Beyond seeing old friends, we were blessed to build relationships with scores of new attendees who stopped by our booth to chat, share experiences, and check out our outdoor and survival gear.

A Wealth of Knowledge and Expert Instruction

Prepper Camp is world-renowned for its educational focus, and 2026 was no exception. With over 50 world-class instructors teaching tens of classes every single day, the sheer volume of expertise on display was inspiring.

Classes covered vital skills across the spectrum, including:

  • Off-Grid Living & Solar Preparedness: Practical ways to keep power and essentials running.

  • Homesteading & Food Preservation: From food storage feasting to canning, foraging, and livestock management.

  • Emergency Medicine & Wilderness First Aid: Essential skills for staying healthy when clean medicine is out of reach.

  • Bushcraft & Primitive Survival Skills: Traditional methods for fire-starting, hide tanning, and outdoor navigation.

Every hour brought another opportunity for attendees and vendors alike to expand their knowledge and gain hands-on insights from true experts in their fields.

Beating the Heat: The True Spirit of Community

Holding the event in mid-August meant one thing was guaranteed: it was hot! But if preppers know how to do anything, it’s how to adapt, persevere, and overcome. Making the absolute best of the event. To cool off, many attendees and vendors even took a dip in the lake, turning the heat into another opportunity for fun and relaxation together!

Despite the sweltering summer temperatures, the attendees and vendors pressed on without missing a beat. The true spirit of Prepper Camp shone brightest in how everyone came together.

Attendees and vendors shared shade, electric fans, cold water, and hydration packs across booth lines. Volunteers and neighbors pitched in to help unload equipment, secure canopy tie-downs, and keep morale high. Everyone swapped practical advice on beating heat fatigue

That spirit of family, mutual aid, and shared resilience is what makes Prepper Camp so unique. It wasn't just about surviving the heat; it was about thriving together as a community.

Looking Ahead

We want to extend a massive thank you to Rick Austin , Survivor Jane, the entire volunteer staff, and everyone who stopped by the Rivers Bend Outdoors booth. Your support, enthusiasm, and shared passion for self-reliance and the great outdoors inspire everything we do.

Events like this reinforce our core mission at Rivers Bend Outdoors:"Get outside, enjoy nature, and spend time with the ones you love."

We’re already counting down the days until next year! Stay safe, keep prepping, and we’ll see you all on the trail!
